THE MINT SO FAR...
In our first two years we've presented a rich selection of plays, and turned a range of venues into community theatres. We've been the first amateur group to perform brand new writing. We have breathed fresh life into classic stories and bitter-sweet drama. Find out about our first seven productions here:
Two years, seven great shows!
AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS
Mint's 2019 summer show was Around the World in 80 Days.
The production was a brand new version of Jules Verne's classic adventure, adapted and directed by Alex Howell.
This riotous show was imaginatively staged, creating offices, trains, ships and even a dog sledge out of a few pieces of basic furniture. It was also supported live sound and visual effects by foley artist, Andrew Hughes.
Mint returned to Stonnall Village Hall, but also visited three brand new venues; Shenstone Village Hall, Pelsall Community Centre and the Manor House Museum, West Bromwich.
'Great production of ‘Around the World in Eighty Days’ by The Mint Theatre Company last night. Fantastic performances by a very talented cast and beautifully directed. Some wonderful comic moments, thoroughly enjoyed the show. Well done to cast & crew. Catch it if you can.'
THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST
Algernon is engaged to Cecily and Jack is engaged to Gwendolen. Unfortunately, Cecily and Gwendolen both think they are engaged to Ernest, whose perfect name induces music and vibrations. It may be that someone has not been entirely honest...
The Importance of Being Earnest was performed at Stonnall Village Hall on Saturday 16th March, Aldridge Social Club on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd March, Britwell Hall, Boldmere on Saturday 30th March, and at Welton Village Hall on Saturday 6th April.
From the Behind the Arras review:
‘I have seen Oscar Wilde’s Trivial Comedy for Serious People so many times and know it so well that Earnest, and indeed, Ernest . . . both of them . . . are now old friends welcomed with some affection in this delightful Mint production.’
‘... it is a play which relies on the words, the characters and the wit, which is what you get, and even after 124 years it is still a delightful, light-hearted comedy, and Mint have made it a a most enjoyable evening.’

'...all credit to Mint in turning a social club concert room into a community theatre'
